ECUADOR EARTHQUAKE

A powerful, 7.4-magnitude earthquake has hit Ecuador’s central coast, with the temblor being felt as far away as the capital, where people fled shaking buildings.
The earthquake on 16th April has flattened much of the Ecuadoran provincial capital of Portoviejo, leaving rescuers scrambling through the ruins, digging with their hands to find survivors.President Rafael Correa said that at least 233 people have died nationally as a result of the quake.
He has declared a state of emergency and said the priority was finding survivors.
