PM Modi awarded Fiji’s highest honour ‘Companion of the Order’ for his global leadership

PM Narendra Modi has been conferred the highest honour of Fiji, ‘Companion of the Order of Fiji’, by its PM Sitiveni Rabuka. PM Modi has been awarded with the honour in recognition of his global leadership, with reports stating that only a handful of non-Fijians have received this honour till date. He has dedicated the honour to the people of India and to the generations of the Fiji-Indian community, who have played a key role in the special and enduring bond between the two countries. PM Modi was in Papua New Guinea on his maiden visit to the country to host a key summit between India and 14 Pacific island countries. Fiji,officially the Republic of Fiji, is an island country in Melanesia, part of Oceania in the South Pacific Ocean. Indo-Fijians, also known as Indian Fijians are Fijian citizens of Indian descent, and include people who trace their ancestry to various regions of India and the Indian subcontinent.
