China has discovered a new mineral on the moon that is a phosphate mineral in columnar crystal named Changesite-(Y). The mineral was found among samples China brought back to Earth in 2020. This places the nation as only the third to find a new moon mineral. The US and Russia are the only two other countries that have found a new mineral on the moon.
