North Korea has taken over as the rotating head of the UN-backed Conference on Disarmament. The country, which is currently under sanctions for developing nuclear weapons in defiance of UNSC regulations, gained the presidency as the role rotates in an alphabetical manner among its 65 members. North Korea has conducted over 10 ballistic missile tests since January this year.
