Rescue mission continues after tsunami hits Indonesia

Rescue teams are helping communities hit by a tsunami in Indonesia. Towns and beaches on the Sunda Strait have been affected, including several popular tourist destinations. The Sunda Strait is between the islands of Java and Sumatra and connects the Java Sea to the Indian Ocean. Roads have been damaged and hundreds of buildings destroyed after the tsunami waves struck on 22nd Dec. The emergency services are working hard to clear debris as well as find and help people. Indonesia sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” which means there is a constant risk of natural disasters, such as tsunamis, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes.
