Russia becomes the world’s most-sanctioned country

Russia has overtaken Iran to become the world’s most-sanctioned country, days after its invasion of Ukraine. Since February 22, Russia has been the target of 2,778 new sanctions designations led by the US and European allies, bringing its total to 5,532, as per global database firm Castellum.AI. Iran has confronted 3,616 sanctions against it over the course of a decade.
