Five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova has retired from tennis at the age of 32. “I am new to this, so please forgive me. Tennis—I am saying goodbye,” she wrote in her farewell letter, adding that her “body has become a distraction” due to injury problems. Sharapova had started playing tennis at the age of four in 1991.
