Researchers at the University of Portsmouth have created the largest ever three-dimensional map, featuring around 1.2 million distant galaxies, in a bid to help them understand ‘dark energy’. Dark energy is an unknown form of energy that is driving the accelerated expansion of the universe. The researchers worked with other institutions for ten years gathering measurements of the galaxies.
