The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the world’s smallest pacemaker, Micra Transcatheter Pacing System, measuring about the size of a large vitamin or one-tenth the size of traditional devices. It is the first miniaturized device with pacing technology to get approval from the US government. In initial trials, the device was successfully implanted in over 99% of patients.
