Scotland gets its own web domain

People who live in Scotland, or have an affinity for Scotland, will be able to claim their own Scottish part of the internet. Scotland may have voted ‘No’ to independence, but it is still getting its own homeland on the web, with the launch of the .scot domain. The new domain will give Scottish individuals and businesses the chance to own their own small part of the internet. It also puts Scotland on a par with Wales, London, Berlin and New York as having a domain of its own, instead of having to sign up to .com, co.uk or .uk.
