US astronaut Peggy Whitson has broken the record for the most spacewalks by a woman after performing her eighth career spacewalk from the International Space Station. The 57-year-old astronaut surpassed the record of seven spacewalks previously held by Indian-American astronaut Sunita Williams. Notably, Whitson is also the oldest woman ever to fly in space.
