England has defeated Poland 2-0 to book their place at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. England are the only British side to be battling out in next year’s tournament as Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland missed out. England’s win is also good news for the economy, which would have taken an estimated £2billion hit if the team failed to qualify. The FA could have lost out on £50million in potential cash prizes, merchandising and sponsorship.
