Vietnam’s National Assembly has elected Pham Minh Chinh as the country’s next Prime Minister and outgoing PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc as the new President. Chinh most recently was a member of the ruling Communist party’s Central Committee for Personnel and Organisation. Under Phuc, Vietnam’s economy boomed and his government was praised for its response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
