Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe declared a state of emergency in Tokyo and six other prefectures to fight coronavirus. The emergency, which will be for a period of about one month, gives governors the authority to call on people to stay home and businesses to close. Abe also unveiled a stimulus package of $990 billion to soften the economic blow.
