Oxford researchers have announced that a two-year trial of robot-assisted retinal surgery on 12 patients has been successful. Using the robot, surgeons were able to operate with equal or better efficacy than in the manual approach. The robot was also used to insert a needle under the retina to dissolve blood in three patients, who experienced improved vision afterwards.
