Janet Jackson has won the Billboard Icon Award, a first for any black woman on 20th May. The singer has famously identified with the ideas of feminism and own identity. She has previously sung songs on domestic abuse like What About and Lessons Learned. With the Billboard Icon Award, Janet becomes the only seventh artist ever to win the award — after Prince, Stevie Wonder, Celine Dion, Cher, Neil Diamond and Janet’s former backing dancer Jennifer Lopez.
