					<p>India began its historic 500th Test match in Kanpur on 22nd September, after winning the toss against New Zealand and electing to bat. India is the fourth nation to achieve the feat of playing 500 Tests. Out of the 499 completed Tests since becoming a Test-playing nation in 1932, India has won 129 matches, lost 157, drawn 212 and tied one.</p>
