Iran has discovered a new oil field with 53 billion barrels of oil, President Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday. The field covers 2,400 square kilometres and is located in Iran’s southwestern province of Khuzestan, he added. The announcement comes as Iran faces American sanctions after the US pulled out of its nuclear deal with world powers last year.
