Prehistoric giant sea reptile discovered in Antarctica

A new species of giant sea reptile has been discovered in 66 million-year-old rocks in Antarctica. At about 10 m long, the ‘Kaikaifilu’ is the largest known marine predator found in the continent. It is a ‘mosasaur,’ a close relative of modern day lizards. It lived near the end of the dinosaur era, when Antarctica was a much warmer ecosystem.
