Britain’s longest-reigning monarch in history

Queen Elizabeth is all set to become Britain's longest-reigning monarch in history. On September 9, she will topple her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, who reigned for more than 63 years to become the new record holder. She was just 25 when she became Queen Elizabeth II on Feb 6, 1952 on the death of her father. The popularity of the 89-year-old Queen has seen better times recently with her popularity chart rocketing — an image that had taken a hit following princess Diana's death in a Paris car crash in 1997. Britain celebrated her 60th year on the throne in 2012 with much pomp and show though her health has been a concern.
